Sunday was warm – even at the frozen lake and nearby – and Alice told me they stayed home. But Monday they returned to Holiday Valley. It was a good day on the slopes, but very few people were on them, and Nathan and his friend were able to have a ski instructor just for them for nearly the entire day.
The picture above is from Sunday when Nathan was walking along the edge of the lake without even a jacket on. I’m not sure how long he did this! It looks cold to me.

But oh what fun and a memory that he’ll never forget…when he walked in his shirtsleeves in January! What a special thing to have a ski instructor to oneself for the day. They must have learned a lot!
What worries me a lot more is that it looks like he is walking on the ice itself, with water all around! I would have been too scared to step on that bit of ice left. Ending up in freezing water is not much fun…!
The day on the slopes with not many others there sounds ideal! That is the only way I’d be able to enjoy skiing.
He is just at the water’s edge, no depth of water beneath the ice. Some years people walk across the lake. Paul did that once. It makes me nervous. People ice fish here on the ice, if it is cold enough. But almost every year someone died. One year five people died, ice fishing. Bad memories.
What a little man he looks like, with his hands in his pockets! Boys grow up so quickly, enjoy that little guy!!
Cool guy
That’s one tough boy!
