This is a little blog – not my more personal journal – about my life. I am 64 years old and am nearly two years a widow after my husband’s long and very serious illness. I have three wonderful children and two sons-in-law and three delightful grandchildren and a little black poodle named Bo. My son Andy and his three gerbils and two fish live here with me………Sound too good to be true? It isn’t really although we are all quite human with lots of flaws and while still wanting to be much better than we are………..I am thinking of the Buddhist priest who told his students that they were all quite pefect as they were and all capable of quite a lot of improvement…….And as I wrote that I recalled another Buddhist story about a gang of marauding soldiers who rushed into a monastery shouting and waving their swords and were quite irritated at the lack of reaction from the head of the temple. The general shouted out, “Don’t you know who I am? I could run this sword right through you and never think twice about it!” And the monk responded, “Don’t you know who I am? You could run your sword right through me and I’d never think twice about it.”
You may have noticed something about the distracted desultory way my mind works! We have a word in our family for non-sequitors. We call them dump trucks because of a family story I may recount on this blog some day. Or not. But in any event, I suspect a large number of dump trucks will be rolling through these digital pages…….
In 2011 I am 66years old and have three adult offspring, four wonderful grandchildren, and little dog Bo….My son Andy has two gerbils, Master Tesla and Marconi and a mouse named Basil.
summer of 2011. Basil has left this life.
Hi Kristi,
I woke up in the middle of the night and had some time to wander through these pages. What a wonderful blog!
Hope to see you soon.
Sue
Hello Kristi,
after you have left such a kind comment on my blog, I have come here to have a look around.
Like yourself, I am a widow; I am 43 years old and my husband died 1 1/2 years ago very suddenly, for no apparent reason and completely out of the blue.
My life has since changed quite a bit, and all summed up, I am happy – as strange as that may sound. But this experience has put things into perspective for me, and I have learnt quite a lot about life, myself and others in the process.
Happy blogging to you!
- Meike.
