It’s been snowing all day, with those huge slowly falling flakes that take me back to my childhood and looking out my grandmother’s kitchen window. It’s a bit below freezing and I watched a deer resting in the snow and wondered how it could be comfortable at all….

Hi, thanks for your recent comment and question on the low carb diabetic blog, which I have replied to, but also thought I’d repeat it here for you.
You asked:
Do you have any ideas on how to make a low carb crepe? I wonder what not flour or combination would work.
There are various ways you can make low carb crepes / pancakes.
Some without flour, like the recipe suggestion on this post
https://thelowcarbdiabetic.blogspot.com/2017/02/pancake-day-low-carb-way-tuesday-28th.html
Some with coconut flour, like this recipe suggestion
https://www.lowcarbmaven.com/no-fail-low-carb-crepes/
Some with almond flour, like this recipe suggestion

Hope you may try one, some or all of these and see which one you prefer.
All the best Jan
PS That is a snowy photograph you’ve shared.
Thank you so much, Jan! I have several meals I can put together with crepes like this.
I thought it had not snowed so much, up here on top of the hill. But, I was wrong.
And today it snowed here most of the day, too….Lots on the ground for my oldest grandson’s Klondike Camp with Boy Scouts.
Same here, but “my” deer were standing up eating out of the bird feeders!
So many deer! Mine do not eat out of the bird feeders.
They find their comforts far differently than ours. I can’t imagine lying in snow for very long, though I do remember how warm it could be to bury ourselves in snow. Do you remember doing that as a child? You and I had similar weather, but then the rain came and what a mess we have…ice, ice, and more ice.
I remember lying on the snowy ground to make snow angels, nothing more. We had another day of snow here.
It still comes and goes around here so far this winter: snow then cold then mild and rain and repeat.
I think we are in a cold period for a while now…But we will have some sun tomorrow, they say.
I would like to get a little snow here, then it can go away. I want to try out my new snow tires!
I think you will like your new tires…
It’s been snowing here, too, but we are far from your Winter Wonderland – and thankfully, not in the emergency situation many places in Bavaria are due to heavy snow. Some villages there have been completely inaccessible for days now, and there are severe avalanche warnings.
As for the animals, I often wonder how they do it, being out in all weathers, the small birds, the deer, and all the others who do not build burrows or live in tree hollows etc.
This sounds very serious in Bavaria…I will have to ask Ingmar how his parents are…They live south of Munich, closer to Rosenheim.
I love this picture. It makes me remember the otherworldly experiences I have had, being surrounded by snow at my daughters’ houses — but also makes me glad that I can take a walk this morning without braving the elements so severe! You are making the most of the magic.
Thank you, Gretchen…Making the most of the magic is what we have to do, but it’s not that difficult. I don’t have to go out anywhere unless I wish to. I do enjoy seeing your posts with photos from your wonderful walks. You pay wonderful attention to the creation all around you.
